AI character consistency: references & review
Character consistency starts with clear references and a stable appearance brief. Establish face, hair, clothing and signature details before varying pose, framing and setting.
What should a character reference sheet include?
| Reference | Record | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Front | Face, features and front costume | Dialogue and front portraits |
| Profile | Nose, jaw and hair silhouette | Profiles and turns |
| Full body | Build, footwear and accessories | Action, wide shots and blocking |

FAQ
Should I rewrite appearance for every setting?
Reuse a fixed appearance description and the same character sheet, changing only setting, action and framing. This also makes appearance drift easier to diagnose.
Why can a profile differ from the front view?
Profiles need information about the nose, jaw and hair silhouette. Add a side-view reference and approve front/profile sheets before producing sequential shots.
What should stay fixed when changing clothing?
List face shape, hairstyle, eye color, apparent age and signature accessories as fixed elements, describe the new outfit separately, and compare against the character sheet.
