Model selection and billing guide

AI image models & pricing: GPT Image 2, Gemini and creative tools

Compare GPT Image 2, Gemini image models and reference editing, recoloring, background removal and upscaling workflows on InkRoom. Choose by your project’s input and editing needs, then check the live catalog for available models, settings and credits. Review the cost estimate before generation and verify the result and usage record afterwards. The selection and billing guide remains readable while the catalog loads or is unavailable.

Model capabilities and creative workflows

Distinguish a model family from a tool, then evaluate results against the same brief. This guide does not rank speed, cost or quality without comparable tests.

Model / workflow	Inputs and operation	A useful starting point	What to check
GPT Image 2 family	Generate from text or edit using reference images, subject to the selected model and tool.	Prepare a clear brief, exact copy and visual references for posters, packaging concepts or layouts with text.	Review spelling, placement, logos, characters and product details; outputs may still miss requirements.
Gemini image family	Generate and modify images using text and image inputs; reference and output limits vary by model.	Explain your product, character or style reference together with the requested change, then iterate on the scene.	Review materials, colors, proportions, text and subject consistency; confirm the required input is supported.
Reference editing & SKU recoloring	Use an original image, target colors and the editing controls available in the current tool.	Start with a clear product photo and specify what should change and what should stay: structure, labels and background.	A workflow, not a separate model. References do not guarantee subject locking; check color shifts, edges and labels.
Background removal / upscaling tools	Remove a background around the subject or increase output dimensions using the supported processing tool.	Check the source subject and sharpness, then select finishing appropriate to the delivery size.	Processing tools, not another generation model. Inspect transparency, small text and textures; missing details are not guaranteed to be recovered.

Credit billing and cost checks

Credits are the monetary unit used to pay for generation. This guide does not fix prices, discounts or trial allowances; check the current configuration and estimate before use.

Cost factor	How it can affect billing	Before you submit
Actual model and operation	Models, generation, editing and upscaling may use different billing rules.	Check the selected model, operation and its pricing explanation.
Size, quality and reference inputs	Size, quality and input processing included in the pricing rule may affect cost.	Recheck the estimate after changing settings; configurations in one family need not share a price.
Image count and new runs	Batch size and the tasks started in this run affect the estimate; retries and further edits need a fresh check.	Confirm the task count and estimated total credits for this run.
Account access and trial allowances	Available models, allowances and offers depend on live configuration and account conditions.	Check current guest eligibility; registration or sign-in does not automatically unlock every model or allowance.
Final charges and refunds	Pre-generation credits are an estimate; settlement and failure refunds depend on task and billing rules.	Verify charges, refunds and results in your usage records after the run; retain records if an issue needs investigation.

Choose your next step by project

Product photos, white backgrounds & SKU colors

Start with a clear product original and decide which features must stay. Separate background, color and lighting changes, then inspect labels and edges before expanding the batch.

Launch posters & commercial design drafts

Set the exact headline, hierarchy and empty space before comparing drafts from available models. Review text, trademarks and layout, then finish for the intended delivery size.

Anime storyboards & recurring characters

Choose character and style references first, then describe each shot’s action, framing and scene. Review faces, clothing and defining features across every image.

Choose a model in three steps

Define the deliverable
List its use, size, image count, exact text and the subjects, colors and references to preserve. Separate requested changes from details that should stay.
Check the model and estimated cost
Check current models, input support and account conditions in the live catalog and creation page. Confirm settings and estimated credits before running.
Review a draft before expanding
Inspect text, product or character details before a batch, edit or upscale. Recheck cost before each new run and verify the result and usage record afterwards.

Model and billing questions

Should I choose GPT Image 2 or a Gemini image model?

Check whether the specific model supports your required inputs, size and edits, then use the same prompt and references to inspect text, composition and subject details. Both families offer generation and editing; this does not establish that one is always cheaper, faster or better at typography. Experience also depends on the model, settings and service conditions.

Why do live prices matter, and are estimated credits the final charge?

The actual model, size, quality, image count, processing operation and applicable account conditions can affect billing, so this static page explains the rules. Check the estimated credits for your current settings before generation. An estimate is not a guarantee of identical settlement on every run; verify final charges and any failure refunds against the task result and usage record.

Can I generate an image, then edit or upscale it with another model?

You can use an existing result as input for subsequent editing or processing where the current tool supports it. Confirm the target model accepts references or the required edit, and review settings and estimated credits again. References do not guarantee unchanged subjects, logos or colors, so inspect each step’s result.

Can guests try image generation for free, and does sign-in unlock every model?

Guest eligibility, available models, allowances and conditions depend on what the current page offers. This guide promises neither a fixed free allowance nor card-free access. Signed-in accounts still need the required model permissions, feature access and allowance; sign-in alone does not unlock everything. Check the current message and estimate before running.

Does a catalog load error mean my image task failed or my assets are affected?

A catalog error only means the current model and pricing configuration was not retrieved. It does not establish a task’s success or failure, or the state of your assets. You can read this guide and retry the catalog. Check existing tasks in generation history, and verify assets and credits in their pages and usage records before submitting the same task again.

Capability sources and review date

The official documentation below supports the model families’ basic generation and editing capabilities. Scenario workflows are practical suggestions. Provider documentation does not mean every model or feature is currently enabled on InkRoom; check the live catalog.
